Prato wirkenden Dominikaners. Vollständiges und breitrandiges Exemplar auf festem Bütten.

Durchweg mit eingemalten Lombarden in Rot versehen.

AUSSTATTUNG

Zweispaltige gotische Type in 36 Zeilen. Große Eingangsinitiale in Rot und Blau mit Rankenwerk in Fleuronnée. Etliche große und kleine handgemalte Lombarden in Rot. Vollständig in Rot rubriziert.

Blattgröße: 27 x 20 cm; Satzspiegel: 21 x 14 cm.

AUSSTATTUNG

Sehr eigenwillige, einspaltige, gotische Type. 40 Zeilen. Kapitelüberschrift in Majuskeln. Bis zur Mitte des Buches in Rot rubriziert. Etliche große, handgemalte, vierzeilige Lombarden in Rot.

Blatt: 31,5 x 21,5 cm; Satzspiegel: 21,0 x 12,0 cm.

KOLLATION

477 (von 478) Blatt. Es fehlt das letzte weiße Blatt. Im Text vollständig.

EINBAND

Blindgeprägtes Kalbsleder über massiven Holzdeckeln. Rechteckig verlaufende Streicheisenlinien sowie Rollen- und Prägestempel. Durch Kopfstempel und Punktlinien gebildete Blattornamente, Lilie rhombisch umrandet sowie Eichenlaub. Gebunden auf vier echten Bünden. Zwei intakte, erneuerte Schließen. Eck- und Mittelbeschläge fehlen. Sehr guter Zustand. Buchblock fest und stabil. Deckel berieben und mit winzigen Fehlstellen. Der Einband wurde laut Eintrag auf dem hinteren Spiegel im Jahr 1963 von Hans Heiland & Sohn unter Verwendung des Originalleders sorgfältig restauriert. Der Rücken wurde komplett erneuert. Das originale Rückentitelschild liegt bei.

ZUSTAND

Sehr guter Zustand. Druck und Papier größtenteils in ausgezeichneter Erhaltung. Außerordentlich breitrandiges Exemplar. Überwiegend sauberer Druck auf festem Bütten. Nur in den Außenrändern partiell etwas angestaubt und fleckig. Vorsatzblatt a1 komplett neu aufgezogen und mit restaurierten Fehlstellen. Erste neun Blatt (Register) angestaubt und mit kleinen Stockflecken im breiten Rand. 21 Blatt mit kaum sichtbaren Restaurierungen mit dünnem Japanpapier im oberen Rand. 5 Blatt mit kleinen Einrissen am unteren oder oberen Außenrand. 3 Blatt mit Eckabriss. Letzte zwei Blatt mit kleiner, restaurierter Fehlstelle im Text und mit Randläsuren. Blatt H2 verso mit größerem handschriftlichem Eintrag einer zeitgenössischen Hand (siehe Bild). Einige zeitgenössische, handschriftliche Kommentare.

DESCRIPTION

Early and rare edition of the popular, for the first time in 1476 published sermons of acting in Pisa and Prato Dominican. Complete and wide-margined copy on thick handmade paper. Consistently  provided with painted Lombards in red.

ILLUSTRATION

Very interesting, one-column, gothic type. 40 lines. Chapter title in Majuskeln. Rubricated until the middle of the book in red. Several large, hand-painted, four-line Lombards in red.

BINDING

Original, late Gothic binding. Blind stamped calf leather over solid wood lids. Rectangular extending String iron lines as well as roles and stamps. By head temple and dotted lines leaf ornaments formed , lily framed rhombic and oak leaves. Bound on four raised bands. Two intact but renewed clasps; Corner and center fittings are missing. Very good condition. Book block and inner book solid and stable. Covers slightly rubbed and with tiny flaws.

The binding was carefully restored in 1963 by Hans Heiland & Son, as recorded on the back of the front cover. Using the original leather. The spine back was completely renewed. The original title to spine label is attached.

CONDITION

Print and paper mostly in excellent condition. Extremely wide-margined copy. Mostly clean print on strong handmade paper. Outer upper edges slightly spotted and partly stained. Flyleaf a1 completely glued on paper and with restored defects. First nine leaves (register) dusty and with small foxing spots in the wide margin. 21 leaves with barely visible restorations with thin Japan paper in the upper edge. 5 leaves with small tears at the bottom or upper outer margins. 3 leaves with corner losses. Last two leaves with small, restored defect in the text and with marginal losses in text. Leave H2 verso with a larger handwritten entry by a contemporary hand (see images). Some other short contemporary, handwritten comments.
