This is a set of four (4) souvenir collectors ashtrays made by the renowned Vernon Kilns California Pottery in the late 1940s-early 1950s featuring Napa Valley (2), Lake Tahoe (1), and the Golden State of California (1).

According to Bill Stern (2001), Vernon Kilns was one of the well known "Big Five" of the Southern California Pottery group (p. 42, California Pottery: From Missions to Modernism).

The ashtrays are red wine maroon on white.  Each ashtray has images of people and places of historic interest and their rims display unique patterns associated with the locale.

These items are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.  They have never been used as ashtrays and have absolutely no tobacco odor or stain.

These wonderful Vernon Kilns Pottery items are getting much harder to find.
