Shadowland
was founded by Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Arena, Caamora) and Karl Groom
(Threshold) at the beginning of the 90ies and released 3 CDs: "Ring of
Roses" (1992), "Through the Looking Glass" (1994) and "Mad
as a Hatter" (1996). The band plays melodic, catchy and powerful
neo-progressive rock with a strong guitar and keyboard sound.
After
a longer break the band toured at the beginning of 2009 and released its first
live recording with "Edge of Night". Still in the band are Clive
Nolan, Karl Groom, Mike Varty (Landmard, Credo, Janison Edge) and Nick
Harradence, a new band member is Mark Westwood (Caamora, NEO). This concert
took place on February 16th 2009 at the ProgRock 2009 festival in Katowice
(Poland). The band shows a strong live performance with great musicianship,
especially on guitar and keyboards, in brilliant film and sound quality.
Besides the excellent presentation of songs from the 90ies Shadowland also
performs the new song "The Edge of Night".
I recommend this DVD to all friends of well performed live neo-progressive rock
and of Shadowland’s music especially.
This DVD edition is in NTSC format with Dolby digital stereo 2.0 und 5.1 surround sound, region code 0 (all regions). The concert has a running time of about 110 minutes, total playing time of the DVD is around 200 minutes.

Shadowland wurden Anfang der 90er Jahre von Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Arena, Caamora) und Karl Groom (Threshold) gegründet und brachten 3 CDs heraus: "Ring of Roses" (1992), "Through the Looking Glass" (1994) und "Mad as a Hatter" (1996). Die Band spielt melodischen, eingängigen und kraftvollen neo-progressiven Rock mit starkem Gitarren- und Keyboardsound.
Nach längerer Pause tourte die Band 2009 und
brachte mit "Edge of Night" ihr erstes Live-Werk heraus. Mit von der
Partie sind weiterhin Clive Nolan, Karl Groom, Mike Varty (Landmard, Credo,
Janison Edge) und Nick Harradence, neu dabei ist Mark Westwood (Caamora, NEO).
Dieses Konzert wurde am 16. Februar 2009 beim Festival ProgRock 2009 in
Kattowitz (Polen) aufgenommen. Die Band zeigt einen starken Live-Auftritt mit
großem musikalischen Können, besonders an der Gitarre und den Keyboards, in
brillianter Fim- und Soundqualität. Neben der exzellenten Darbietung von Songs
aus den 90er Jahren spielen Shadowland auch ihren neuen Titel "The Edge of
Night".
Ich empfehle diese DVD allen Freunden von gutem neo-progressiven Rock und von
Shadowlands Musik im besonderen.
