Diese 2-Euro-Münze aus Belgien feiert das 500. Jubiläum des Carolusgulden, der eigens eingeführten Währung von König Karl V., Kaiser des Heiligen Römischen Reiches. 1521 kam der goldene Carolusgulden erstmals auf den Markt, er war ungefähr so viel Wert wie 20 Pfennig und galt als eine neue Rechnungseinheit. Im Jahr 1540 folgte dann der silberne Carolus. Nach der Abdankung von König Karl V. zugunsten seines Sohnes Philipp im Jahr 1566, wurde die Prägung der Münze eingestellt. Die Gedenkmünze zeigt ein Porträt von Karl V. mit seiner Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies. Ebenfalls im Design enthalten ist die Aufschrift "CAROLUS V", das Ausgabejahr "2021" sowie das Kürzel "BE" für den Ausgabestaat Belgien. Karl V. war von 1519 bis 1556 Kaiser des Heiligen Römischen Reiches und Erzherzog von Österreich. Die Lieferung der belgischen Gedenkmünze in Stempelglanz-Qualität erfolgt in einer Blisterkarte mit flämischer und englischer Aufschrift.

This 2 Euro Coin from Belgium is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Carolus coin, the custom-introduced currency of King Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. In 1521, the golden Carolus first appeared on the market, it was worth about as much as 20 pennies and was considered a new unit of account. It was followed by the silver Carolus in 1540. After the abdication of King Charles V in favor of his son Philip in 1566, the minting of the coin was discontinued. The commemorative coin features a portrait of Charles V with his chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Also included in the design is the inscription "CAROLUS V," the year of issue "2021," and the abbreviation "BE" for Belgium, the state of issue. Charles V was Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria. The Belgian commemorative coin in uncirculated quality is delivered in a blistercard with Flemish and English inscriptions.
