Voyages

De Benjamin De Tudelle

Here is a super rare antiquarian hardcover book that would be a fantastic addition to a collection!

I searched the internet and could not find another book like this, only modern reprints. Super rare!!!!

You are bidding on a very rare antique French hardcover book titled Voyages de Benjamin de Tudelle autour du monde, commencé l'an 1173, de Jean du Plan Carpin en Tartarie, du Frère Ascelin et de ses compagnons vers la Tartarie, de Guillaume de Rubruquin en Tartarie et en Chine en 1253. The English translation is: Travels of Benjamin de Tudelle around the world, begun in the year 1173, of Jean du Plan Carpin in Tartary, Brother Ascelin and his companions to Tartary, Guillaume de Rubruquin in Tartary and China in 1253.

This is a very early book on travels to China, Tartary, etc. and recounts voyages there in 1173 and 1253.

The book was printed in Paris at the expense of the government in 1830.

Imagine, this book is over 180 years old!!!

The book is hardcover and has been rebound at some point, my guess is late 1800's. It shows markings of once having been a library book (The Academy of the New Church). The title is written on the spine. The pages (496) are tightly bound with scattered foxing. Most pages have light foxing. The book remains in good condition.

This is a great opportunity to own a book on a very desirable topic, and to own a book where it is the only one available world-wide!!!!

Great gift idea!
