You are bidding on a terrific collection of antiquarian hardcover books titled The Spectator. Printed in London by N Hughs for Messrs. Payne, Rivington, Davis, Longman, Dodsley, White, Law, Robson, Crowder, Johnson, Nichols, Dillly, Robinson, Cadell, Stuart, Bowles, Sewell, Murray, Flexney, Baldwin, Goldsmith, Lowndes, Knox, Otridge, Hayes, Piquinet, Macqueen, Newbury, Edwards, Stalker.

In all you are bidding on five volumes. They are volumes II through VI of this set.

The Spectator was a periodical issued principally by Richard Addison and Joseph Steele, mainly concerned with manners, morals and literature, including the Coverley papers, and short stories in the form of letters addressed to the Editor.

All five volumes feature full polished calf leather binding. The covers on all volumes are firmly attached. The spines have five raised bands. As expected with leather this old, there is wear and tear to corners/edges and some pieces missing to spines on a few volumes. The leather on the front cover of Volume II is very dry and cracked. It is in pretty good shape on the other volumes.

The pages are mostly quite clean with hardly any foxing at all. All pages tightly bound with none coming loose. The books have a tasteful, majestic looking bookplate on inside front cover.

Overall, these books are in very good condition.

These are very scarce books!

Would make a super addition to a collection.

Great gift idea!
