Attention Collectors!!!

Super Rare

1740

The London Magazine

And

Monthly Chronologer

You are bidding on a wonderful, antique book. The book is from 1740!

The book you are bidding on is titled The London Magazine: And Monthly Chronologer. It is for the year 1740. It includes every month of the year. It was printed in London for T. Astley, at the Rose over-against the North-Door of St. Paul's. The book is 635 pages long followed by unnumbered Indexes for Debates in the Political Club, to the Essays, Politiks, Domestic and Foreign Occurrences, Index to Poetry, Index of Names, Index of Names in Marriages, Births, Deaths, and Index to the Books.

Minor chipping to first few pages with a small clear tape repair to Title and Preface pages. All pages are tightly bound and in very good condition. Some pages show some mild foxing but most pages have no foxing.

Book also has some interesting maps. Often these maps were removed from the book over time and sold separately. These maps alone sell singly for $250! I refuse to ruin a book by removing the maps. The book has all six maps in it, as published.

The London Magazine, the second oldest literary periodical, was founded in 1732 in political opposition and rivalry to the Tory-based Gentleman's Magazine and ran for 53 years until its closure in 1785. Edward Kimber became editor in 1755, succeeding his father Isaac Kimber. Henry Mayo was editor from 1775 to 1783. Publishers included Thomas Astley. Covered politics, travel, births, deaths, etc.

This rare antique book has been professionally rebound in full leather binding with new endpages. The leather binding is in excellent condition.

Tremendous gift idea!

This would make a super addition to any collection!
