Attention Collectors!!!

You are bidding on a super rare hardcover book titled An Abridgement of Ainsworth's Dictionary of the Latin Tongue. fROM THE FOLIO EDITION. bY mR. tHOMAS. Printed in London by W. Mount and T. Page (along with a lenghthy list of other names), 1758.

This book is over 260 years old!!!!

I conducted a search and could not find another one from this date.

This is Volume I only of a two volume set. It includes the Dictionary and at rear of book is the Thesauri. I'm not sure what is in Volume II but the Dictionary and the Thesauri each appear to be complete from A to Z.

The book features full leather binding. It measures approximately 9" high and 6" wide and is 2" thick. The spine features five raised bands and gold titling. The covers are securely attached. The leather shows wear, but considering the age of the book, it remains in pretty good condition.

Book has 573 pages. All pages are present and tightly bound (the front flyleaf is a little loose). The pages are not numbered but my guess is there has to be easily over 1,000 pages here. A few pages show pages toning/browning/staining but almost all pages are clean and bright with no foxing. Previous owner name written on title page (Ja Sinclair??). The book remains in good condition.

This is an extremely rare antique book.

This is a terrific book to add to a collection!

Great gift idea!
