Außerordentlich detailreich und meisterlich geartete reliefplastische Darstellung als mehrstufiges Relief in der Art des Nicolaas Daems, welcher zwischen 1611-1632 in Mechelen tätig war.

Kreuzigungsszene mit Jesus, Maria und Maria Magdalena. Gewänder, die Gebäude im Hintergrund sowie das Kreuz sind reich mit Gold versehen. 

Relief in einem einfachen und originalen Eichenholzrahmen.

Die Mechelner Steinarbeiten des späten 16. und frühen 17. Jahrhunderts müssen bedeutende Ausmaße gehabt haben. Rund 500 Exemplare mit verschiedenen alt- und neutestamentarischen Themen und Heiligenikonographien sowie antiken Themen sind heute weltweit bekannt. 

Unter dem Stichwort Maline Alabasters liefert Sotheby's Datenbank die Verkäufe der letzten Jahre.

Relief: 10 x 12,5 cm; Rahmen: 19,5 x 23 x 2 cm. 

ZUSTAND

Altersgemäßer, guter Zustand. Wie üblich einige Risse bzw. Brüche im Stein aber keine Ausbrüche oder sichtbare Fehlstellen. Alabaster mit schöner Alterspatina. Holz des Rahmens verso mit Riss.

DESCRIPTION

Exceptionally detailed and masterly relief relief in the multi-level relief in the style of Nicolaas Daem, who was active in Mechelen between 1611-1632. 

Crucifixion scene with Jesus, Mary and Mary Magdalena. 

Robes, the buildings in the background and the cross are richly decorated with gold. Relief in a simple and original oak frame.

The Mechelen stone works of the late 16th and early 17th centuries must have had significant dimensions. Around 500 copies with various Old and New Testament themes and iconographies of saints as well as ancient themes are known all over the world today. 

Relief: 10 x 12.5 cm; frame: 19.5 x 23 x 2 cm. 

Age-appropriate, good condition. As usual some cracks or fractures in the stone, but no break-outs or visible missing parts. Alabster with nice age patina. Frame verso with old cracks.
