Here is a registered cover with an unusual overseas single-franking usage of the 17-cent Woodrow Wilson stamp. A 2-cent treaty rate on top of the 15-cent registry fee results in this unusual overseas rate and single franking.

The Wilson stamp, Scott 623, is tied by a socked-on-the-nose Boston MASS RS oval postmark, for registry section. The envelope bears a blue boxed Registered handstamp. The neat and small envelope is addressed to Lloyds Bank, Stonehouse, Plymouth, England. The cover has some bumps, creases etc. from international postal handling.

The reverse has the address of the sender, Bay State Road, Boston, and three Boston, Mass Registered vermillion counter handstamp postmarks. These have not been cleanly applied. The date is clearly Nov. 15 and the year is most likely 1926 given that the 15-cent rate went into effect in late 1925. The single-franking registered covers of this stamp are mainly domestic usages.

The postage on this lot is higher than I would like, which is down to Royal Mail rates and other charges beyond my control such as eBay and PayPal commissions. I use good British stamps to send all my lots and these should result in collectable stamps cancelled by hand in my village post office for the buyer.

As I have some buy-it-now lots, anyone who makes a purchase might want to look at them before paying. If you buy more than one item, please wait for my invoice so I can combine postage

When payment is received by teatime British time (it is usually dished up about 4:30) I normally post the item the next morning. Our village post office is closed on Saturdays, however, so if you pay on Friday the item will not go out until the following Monday.
