Mit Erscheinen der Big Five II. Serie setzt die South African Mint die Erfolgsgeschichte eines begehrten Klassikers fort. Die Serie umfasst erneut insgesamt fünf Münzen, die alle der beeindruckenden Tierwelt Südafrikas gewidmet sind. Die als "Big Five" bekannten Tiere - Elefant - Löwe - Büffel - Nashorn - Leopard - gelten als Wahrzeichen und Botschafter dieses kulturreichen Landes und repräsentieren die afrikanische Fauna. Entsprechend groß ist der Stellenwert dieser Münzserie. Die zweite Ausgabe ist dem Löwen gewidmet und als Doppel-Kapsel in der Qualität Polierte Platte erschienen. Der einzigartige Satz enthält zweimal die zweite Ausgabe der neuen Big Five II. Serie, geprägt aus je einer Unze 99,9% Silber. Das Motiv der Silbermünzen zeigt den Kopf eines ausgewachsenen Löwen. Die Aufschriften "SOUTH AFRICA", "BIG FIVE 2022" und das südafrikanische Wappen sind ebenfalls Bestandteil des Designs. Die Rückseite zeigt zwei Hälften eines Löwenkopfes. Platziert man zwei dieser Münzen nebeneinander, erhält man ein vollständiges Nahaufnahmeporträt eines Löwen. Wenn mehrere dieser Münzen nebeneinander gelegt werden, ist ein ganzes Löwenrudel zu sehen.

Der Afrikanische Löwe (Panthera leo) ist das größte und bedeutendste Landraubtier Afrikas. Aufgrund seiner enormen Kraft und würdevollen Erscheinung gilt der Löwe allgemein als der "König der Tiere" - eine Bezeichnung, die alten Märchen und Fabeln entstammt. Seit jeher steht die Raubkatze als Symbol für Macht und Herrschaft und zierte bis heute unzählige Wappen und Fahnen. Das beeindruckende Löwengebrüll kann bis zu 8 Kilometer weit entfernt gehört werden und dient zur Kommunikation innerhalb der Rudelmitglieder. In freier Wildbahn kann der Löwe über 20 Jahre alt werden - bis heute ist die Bedrohung durch Wilderer jedoch sehr groß. Der weltweit auf nur 1.000 Sätze limitierte Big Five II. Löwe Silber-Satz wird in einer Doppel-Münzkapsel sowie einem edlen Holzetui geliefert. Die Holzplatte mit den beiden Münzen lässt sich herausnehmen und umdrehen. So kann man wählen, welche Seite der Münzen man präsentieren möchte. Ein nummeriertes Echtheits-Zertifikat der South African Mint ist ebenfalls in der Lieferung enthalten.
