These earrings feature male Cardinals of porcupine quill hovering on traditional birch bark with sweetgrass rim wraps and they are made by Paul St John, Mohawk.   - 


Here scarlet color male cardinals are on a teardrop birch bark medallions by Paul St John, Mohawk craftsman. The Cardinals are of dyed red, dyed black and dyed yellow porcupine quills.  Due to global warming, Cardinals are moving further north and some pairs have been spotted mid-coast Maine where I live. - One benefit from a mostly negative phenomenon.


The earrings are about 2" long and about 1 3/8" across at widest.  As handmade items on a natural material (birch bark) - each one is slightly different from any other.     Last photo is of Paul with 2 of his other creations


Paul St. John now lives in Maine near his mother's family.   His mother is Passamaquoddy, Maliseet and MicMac.  He grew up on the Mohawk lands in New York, his father's homeland and is an enrolled Mohawk tribal member.
