This is a RARE 1964 vintage copy of Avengers #10 which features the team's early exploits including the 1st appearance of Immortus (Variant of Kang) and Hercules (a Space Phantom), and the 1st unofficial use of the catchphrase 'Avengers Assemble' by Thor. It's also the 1st meeting and battle between Thor and Hercules. Includes as well a Captain America pin-up. Written by Stan Lee with art by Don Heck. It's first print and the overall condition is rated Very Good. The cover is sharp with off-white pages. It has minimal creases and tears occurring along the cover edges. Staples are intact and fairly firm.
synopsis:
Immortus appears before the Masters of Evil,
wanting to ally himself with them. At first, Zemo is distrusting and
offended that Immortus thinks himself superior to them. Zemo sends
Executioner to battle Immortus, instead, Immortus sends Paul Bunyan in
his stead to fight. After a quick skirmish, They agree to do so one
condition:- to destroy the Avengers. Immortus agrees. He puts an advert
in a newspaper offering people superpowers. Rick Jones notices the ad as
he wants power to increase his chances of being an Avenger, and falls
for the trap. Captain America finds the ad and goes to the location of
the ad.
Immortus tells Captain America that one of the other Avengers
sent Rick here. Cap goes back to HQ to find the traitor, and takes them
all back to Immortus. There, the batle rages on.
