SWAN DESK ACCESSORY

An attractive and unusual silver plated swan in fine detail mounted upon a shapely silver base plinth in the baroque style with foliate decoration. The base is loaded for stability giving some extra weight; it would be ideal as a paperweight. The two parts are not contemporary and have been amalgamated as a 'marriage' piece.

The edge of the plinth is hallmarked; showing the 'three tower' mark for 826 or 830 silver fineness and the Copenhagen Assay Office, dated 1916. The maker's mark (CAR) is for Caroline Amalie Rosen.

Date: 1916

Condition: Fair condition but historically adapted. Recently cleaned with very little tarnish remaining. The plinth edges are sound and without dents. The swan's attachment on the plinth is crude but secure. A replacement piece of green felt has been added to the underside. The base of the tail feathers have a small gap in the seam.
