This is a silver desktop stamp box, of triangular form. One side has a hinged door for stamp access, the other side has a round recess. This has been the subject of some conjecture; possibly an inkwell but another suggestion is a stamp moistener. There are rubbed Birmingham hallmarks to one side, as shown, and the date letter is only visible under the lid for 1912. It stands 4.0cm high and is 10.2cm wide. There are a few minor knocks to the silver through use, but generally good.
