ABOUT:
First Armenian Translation of Jules Verne's famous work "From the Earth to the Moon Direct in 97 Hours 20 Minutes"
In 97 hours and 20 minutes directly from Earth to the Moon, the science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne, which is part of the series "Unusual Journeys", tells the story of the first human journey to the Moon.
The events of the novel take place immediately after the US Civil War, ie approximately 1865-1866. After the end of the war, an "Artillery Club" was organized in Baltimore (USA). Its founder, Impi Barbican, was obsessed with making an artillery shell that could reach the moon after firing.
Jules Gabriel Verne (/vɜːrn/; French: [ʒyl gabʁijɛl vɛʁn]; 8 February 1828 – 24 March 1905) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright. His collaboration with the publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel led to the creation of the Voyages extraordinaires, a series of bestselling adventure novels including Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1872). His novels, always well documented, are generally set in the second half of the 19th century, taking into account the technological advances of the time.
