1983 - 1987 Hot Air Balloon National Championship Plate Set   11" in Diameter

This unique fine pewter collection was created by Loren Hancock at the Wilton Armetale Company in Columbia, Pennsylvania, commemorating the National Hot Air Balloon Championships in Indianola Iowa from 1983 - 1987. Loren is a molder, a man who is a skilled craftsman. His "Hallmark" or "Touch" is not a mere imprint on the plates. His "Touch" is the piece itself - each an example of the craft as old as forming the metal. You see, he works with sand molds and molten metal. He must know, not with a slide rule or thermometer, but really know, from the depths of long experience when to pour and how.

These unique plates were commissioned by the National Hot Air Balloon Championships (NBC LTD) and signed and distributed by Beymer's in Downtown Indianola, Iowa.
