ANTIQUE CANDELABRA

An attractive antique French ormolu (gilt brass or bronze) four light candelabra of elaborate design. The base has Neoclassical design features and the column has three foliate branches and the central column which support the sconces and bobeches. It has two narrow Sevres-style painted panels to the base. It comes with a candle snuffer in a flame design.

Date: late 19th Century. 

Condition: Fair functional condition. Left as found in uncleaned condition with tarnish and partial gilt loss. The connecting rod that joins the column to the underside of the base has been replaced. There is a small hole in the front of the base which may have been a fixing point for another piece of decoration. The candelabra would benefit from some tiny felt pads on the outer legs.
