From the Introduction:  In the pages following, I write of warriors and their war – of those honorable men and women who lived to tell their stories of the Second World War.  The warriors who fell in battle took their stories with them.  It is up to the living to honor those men by keeping alive the values for which they gave their lives.  It is up to the living to record the examples of duty and responsibility, of honor and courage, of unbending strength of moral fiber so the future generations may learn how to live.  This is why I have written The Second World War Through Younger and Older Eyes....Inscribed on a memorial at the American Cemetery at Normandy, I saw these worlds:  Only the dead have seen the last of war.  A truth.  From the beginning of time, war has been and always will be.  And, more importantly, duty, honor and courage have been and always will be. The stories of surviving warriors record that .  And, for that reason, I have felt the responsibility to record the thoughts and experiences of the still-living WW II veterans I have know who fought for me, for you, for our country, and for our way of life.  Their words will  now be part of the contributing recordation of history.
