black forest bear vesta holder and bowl. circa 1880 (golf club and ball). Beautiful hand carved bear standing holding brass golf club and ball - form Vesta case. This object is in great overall condition, there is a small dent to the ball and there is 2 very old cracks to the wooden feet (see photos). I think this was done when the brass base plate was attached in period. Nothing wobbles or is loose and it in no way detracts from the piece. One eye is orange, one is blue, may be a later replacement? The fur texture is nicely done and the colouration to the bear is lovely. It is certainly a rare object in this form as I have been unable to find an exact comparison. It would make a very unique present to yourself or a golfer in your life. Bear 24.5 cm high, 8.5cm wide, 10.5cm depth. Total object 24.5cm high, 16.5cm wide, 14cm depth.
