This lot contains 3 (three) x in-vitro cups of Hemianthus callitrichoides (Dwarf Baby Tears). All our in-vitro plants are grown in sterile environments. This guarantees that no diseases or pest infestations are present. In addition, no algae nor snails nor snail eggs are present. These plants are extremely compact and heavily branching. The submerged habit reduces the aquarium's transition phase from emersed to submerged.

The Hemianthus callitrichoides plant is one of the world's smallest aquarium plants. It lives in rivers, near marine habitats and was first imported by Holger Windelov, who found it in Cuba to the west of Havana. This plant has delicate stems with tiny round or ovoid leaves that are creeping, moving and expand into a continuous mass when planted. The Hemianthus callitrichoides is an attractive foreground plant for both small and large tanks.

Hemianthus callitrichoides optimum temperature is around 25 °C, but it can also tolerate temperatures in the range between 20 and 28 °C. It's not always necessary to fertilize Hemianthus callitrichoides with CO2, but the plant grows much healthier with it. It's susceptible to iron deficiencies, whose symptoms are yellow shoot tips. They should also be supplied with sufficient macronutrients like nitrate.

Most aquatic plants grow better with sunlight, but under intense light conditions, Hemianthus callitrichoides can also grow above the waterline where it generally forms more compact cushions than under water. Planting it near driftwood or rock sticking out of the water helps it attach to the surface and create a dense planting.
