This lot contains a decent portion of Lemna trisulca (Star or Ivy-Leaved Duckweed).

Ivy-leaved Duckweed is not only far less invasive than other, more frequent varieties of duckweed, but it is also by far the most beautiful of our natural duckweeds. It floats slightly below the surface rather than on it and has delicate fronds that range in colour from a medium green to a dark green. The leaves are divided into three segments. The fact that these leaves offer a home to a diverse community of aquatic invertebrates, including water hoglice, baby snails, and flatworms, makes this plant an excellent choice for creating cover, particularly in ponds that are used by animals. It is able to grow in direct sunlight, but it looks best in areas with more shade, such as around the bases of other plants, behind the leaves of water lilies, in gloomy ponds, or simply in the depths of winter, when it flourishes and seems rich and green when other plants have withered off. There is no need to container the plant; just put it directly into the water feature. Since this plant grows slowly, there is never enough stock.
