This is one of many Bruce Bairnsfather items from a large collection I have bought that I am going to list over the next couple of days so please look at my other listings.
There are many quite rare pieces like Plant Pots and Gravy Boats etc this one is a very rare Jardiniere with a scalloped edge and 4 different scenes on all shown in the photos
It is Bairnsfather Ware made by Grimwades of Stoke On Trent in 1919 and we know that as below that is the text A Souvenir Of The Great War along with the relevant dates of the War and below this is a nice stamp of Old Bill
It comes in good overall condition as seen in the photos with 2 Chips to the rim and a few hairline cracks all shown in the photos.
As seen in the photos there is a Soldier sitting outside a Dug Out cutting his mates hair saying
Keep Yer Ead Still Or ILL Ave your Blinkin Ear Off
The next shows a Soldier with a tin of Plum and Apple saying
When is it Goin to Be Strawberry
The next shows 2 soldiers outside a dugout with one saying
Well Alfred Ow Are The Cakes
The last shows a soldier outside a Dugout Juggling with Grenades and the caption saying
Keeping His Hand In
The Jardiniere measures 7 inches across and 5.5 inches in height
I have never seen a Jardiniere like this before and I have 3 today all different sizes this being the biggest- It's a real Cracker ( shame about the damage)
