   We have faithfully* reproduced the grinding gauge used to check a tool’s side and front clearance and tool cutting angle! Made from 16ga Stainless steel, (*thicker than the original to last a lifetime)!

  For less than the price of an original SBL specimen selling on Ebay, you can have a heavier duty model with all the same functions! Comes with simple instructions with diagrams. NOW, a new tool bit grinding gauge is available for cutting BRASS! Our GG-02 is designed using the most common specs for grinding your tool bit for turning BRASS material on your lathe. Same 16ga Stainless steel construction as our GG-01.

 *Some have questioned the different appearance of the angles between the original South bend Lathe gauge and our GG-01. The angles are exactly the same on both. We used a larger triangular cutout* on our reproduction, (same angles), to give the cutting point of the tool more room. The SBL's gage was originally stamped and we found that where the triangular cutout intersects the little circle was sometimes pinched too tight or left a burr not allowing the tool to register properly.
