Amazing antique French book safe or stash box carved from the 5th volume of Philippe-Antoine Merlin's "Recueil Alphabétique Des Questions de Droit" (Alphabetical Collection of Questions of Law) Volume 5, 1827-1830.

48 pages are intact and the remaining pages have been hollowed out and used for the book safe. Nice, thick paper glued to the inside of the hollow portion.

Safe: 8" x 5 1/2" x 1 1/8"

Significant wear to the cover - spine is missing and the front cover is unattached. The rest of the book remains intact and in good shape for its age.
