All Metal unofficial Combat Artillery Badge Large size Hat or Jacket Pin

In 1943 the Army created the Combat Infantryman Badge to be awarded to any infantry or Special Forces soldier assigned to a unit under hostile enemy fire and actively engaged in ground combat. In the words of Medal of Honor recipient Major Charles W. Davis, it is "a badge for every infantryman who faces the enemy, every day and every night, with so little recognition." To which the other branches of the Army said, in effect, "But what about us?" The War Department declined to produce similar badges for the other branches. Enterprising individuals then began creating their own, unofficial, versions simply by modifying the traditional Combat Infantry Badge. These badges were never officially authorized. Wearing one on a military uniform risked a reprimand, or worse. Wearing one on civilian clothes, or using one in a personal Military Shadow Box, was ignored. a brief suggestion Most smaller hat pins can be multitasked as lapel pins or tie tacks. This larger pin measures 3" x 1" and is too large for that. However being a larger pin it can also be worn, military style, pinned to a shirt or jacket just above the left top pocket. Or Get a pair for the Epaulets of a military style shirt, jacket, or Trench Coat. It is also the ideal size to use in a Military Shadow Box. Career veterans have served in a variety of units, each with their own unique unit insignia. A shadow box is a memorial wall plague that displays the history of their service. In addition to showing the insignias of all of the units with which they have served, it also displays any ribbons, awards and decorations that the individual has earned. Does your veteran have one? They are easy to make. A picture frame and some felt covered cork is all that you need. You can also use this as a decorative accent for your purse, back pack, tote bag, bulletin board, jewelry box ----- Well, the list just goes on and on and is limited only be your imagination.
