Gecko and Face Tribal Wall Mask

Hand carved by individual artisans in Indonesia.



Hand carved from indigenous wood
and then decorated and sealed with a protective topcoat.

This mask measures 4 3/4" wide by 2" thick by 39" tall.

The mask comes with a loop on the back to make it easy to hang on the wall with a common picture hook.

A brief note for those who will ask what kind of wood it is.

We don't know.
The importer doesn't name the wood.
The pieces are hand made in Indonesia using, most likely, indigenous woods.
Indonesia is noted for having a great many species of Mahogany
but they also have many Asian and Australian species as well
the names of which we probably wouldn't recognize even if they told us.
We have always worked on the basis that if you like what it looks like
what does it matter what it's called.
If you insist on a name, however,
we can tell you that they all come under the general Latin heading of
Antiquus Mortuus Arboretus


The mask is brand new and has never been used.

We have a large variety of hand carved wood tribal masks, statues and walking sticks
imported from Indonesia, Africa and Chile.
All of them are hand made by individual artisans.
These are not mass produced, computer controlled, cookie cutter designs.
As a result, pieces which appear to be the same will have subtle differences
in size, shape, pattern and color and there will be some imperfect lines.
If you find the rough hewn nature of Tribal Art to be objectionable
then, quite frankly, don't buy them.
But to us, it is part of the charm.
