Sun Bin, citing the strategy of "going up the house and taking the stairs" in Sun Tzu's Art of War, defeated the army of Chu. Pang Juan was jealous of Sun Bin's talent, so she planted him with a plan of "hiding a knife in a smile", and Sun Bin was punished. Gongsun Yue, Pang Juan's adviser, told Sun Bin about Pang Juan's plot in order to get the beauty Zhong Liqiu. Sun Bin "pretended to be crazy" and burned all the copied military tactics. Zhong Liqiu hoped that Sun Bin was not really crazy and confided his true feelings to him. Sun Bin was still crazy, so Pang Juan, who secretly monitored Sun Bin, believed it. When Zhong Lichun, Zhong Liqiu's sister, learned that Sun Bin was pretending to be crazy, she went to the state of Qi, Sun Bin's hometown, and asked Tian Ji, the general of the state of Qi, to rescue Sun Bin. 战国时期，世外奇人鬼谷子有两个得意弟子——孙膑和庞涓。鬼谷子将失传的《孙子兵法》独传于孙膑。庞涓率魏国大军在方城与楚国军队相持不下，孙膑引用《孙子兵法》上的“上屋抽梯”之计，大败楚军。庞涓因此嫉妒孙膑的才能，用“笑里藏刀”之计栽赃孙膑，孙膑被处以膑刑。庞涓的谋士公孙阅为得到美女钟离秋，把庞涓的阴谋告诉了孙膑。孙膑“假痴不癫”，将抄录的兵法全部烧毁。钟离秋盼望孙膑不是真疯，向孙膑倾吐真情，孙膑仍疯癫不已，暗中监视孙膑的庞涓因此信以为真。钟离秋的姐姐钟离春得知孙膑装疯的真情后，只身来到孙膑的家乡齐国，请求齐国大将军田忌解救孙膑。田忌派门客禽滑前往魏国，孙膑在禽滑的帮助下，“金蝉脱壳”逃离魏国...........
