Antique Hilditch & Son, Staffordshire, Cup/Saucer Set - Chinoiserie, c1825th, England.

Beautiful “London shape" cup & deep saucer featuring colorful “Oriental Musicians”, chinoiserie pattern, popular theme during that era. Transfer applied decorations with hand colored accents.

Great example of porcelain of its epoch - Georgian period, this lovely chinoiserie cup and saucer set attributed to Hilditch & son, Church Street, Lane End, Staffordshire.

The company - short lived (1822-1830) and purely Georgian manufacturer of earthenwares and porcelain at Lane End in North Staffordshire. Most designs were printed often in underglaze blue, or in sepia with on glaze enamelled colours ('clobbering'). Fine quality porcelain tea wares were a speciality and reflect the chinoiserie taste of the time.

Condition: overall good considering the age. The porcelain is somewhat translucent, with firing imperfections. Wear to decorations and enamels, wear and blemishes on handle, rims and foot. No cracks or large chips noted. Some discoloration.

I have six of these lovely pieces, each in relatively similar condition. Some have more wear than others but not drastically different. Some have more wear around the rim (interior) some have slightly more discoloration or small scabs, but no damage such as repairs cracks or large chips.

Saucer measure 5.75” wide

Cup: 3.5” wide (handle not included)
