SUMMARY:

A substantial goliath-sized solid silver cased 8-day patent Atlas pocket watch. The watch is in its original silver case and with a black and luminesced enamel dial. The watch is in full working order and comes complete with a presentation box. The buy it now price is a clear reflection of the rarity, stunning condition, and long-term investment for this watch.

THE DIAL: 97% mint, the black enamel dial with white Arabic numerals and in bright condition with no chips or hairlines. The dial with blue steel spade hands. The diameter is 55 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition and retained securely, with an odd small scratch to the surface. 

THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with finely finished gilt plated movement and a Bosley regulator, and blue steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with hairspring and club tooth lever escapement and balance cock and balance of rare patent form The movement of good quality and with 15 jewels, by The Atlas Watch Company. The watch ticking away on my desk as I type this, and keeping excellent time and just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker.  The watch is much brighter and crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equipment.  The watch is in very good working order for its age.  A very similar watch is shown  Pocket Watches, 19th and 20th Century by Shenton.

THE CASE: 99% mint, the solid silver case measures 65 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both are hinged and close nice and tightly. The case with rear cover and inner solid silver dust cuvette, clean and with a few tiny scratches nd fully hallmarked.

This is a high quality case, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality.The pictures show minor reflections and various dark marks, these are an artefact from the lighting and are not present in the watch case. This is a very fine period  goliath watch in simply stunning condition, which is a very rare collectable item or a possible investment for the future or of course a fine gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding etc.
