A very fine  condition silver and niello metal cased, Swiss pocket watch with 15 jewels by Longines, with movement number 247478 made in 1881, a calibre 18.5. This is a beautifully made keyless-wound pocket watch, made  for the European market. The watch movement of very nice quality with beautifully gilded plates. This watch with the rare feature of  silver niello work to one side and silver and gold niello work to the other,  of hunter, and cockerspaniel in fancy scene. The watch recently cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker and in good order and keeping excellent time .  It is most unusual indeed to find a silver and niello work pocket watch in such fine condition. THE DIAL: 90% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no hairlines but a small edge chip at 5 o'clock and signed Urania. The dial with fancy gold hands. Diameter is 42 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition. 

THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with a gilded plates and a silver steel-regulator, and blue steel screws. An uncut three arm gilt metal balance, with hairspring and Swiss club tooth lever escapement. The movement overall of very good quality and measures 42 mm. The watch ticking away strongly and keeping very good time. The watch with typical raised winding wheels, marked Urania, but a Longines calibre  18.5. THE CASE: 99% mint, the silver/gold and niello case measures an impressive 54 mm. The front and rear covers both close nice and tightly and are both hinged. Both of the covers hinge have individual raised thumb pieces for opening the case.  The front and rear covers, with nice finish to edges. The bezel is plated metal.

THE NIELLO WORK: 97% mint, The niello work in excellent condition, showing minimal loss and still in bright and fresh condition.
