Thomas Chippendale (1718 - 1779) was a London cabinet-maker and furniture designer in the mid-Georgian, English Rococo, and Neoclassical styles. In 1754 he published a book of his designs, titled The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director. The designs are regarded as establishing the fashion for furniture for that period and were used by many other cabinet makers.

The book is bound in blue cloth. It is quite large, measuring approximately 18" high by 12 /2".  Covers are securely attached with no cracking or splitting of hinges. Pages are very clean and tightly bound. The ends pages show some bleed-through/darkening. No previous owner bookplates or signatures. The binding shows gentle wear/ mild soil and remains in very good condition!

Great gift idea!
