Q. What is a region code?

A. DVD players and DVD discs are assigned a playable region code (area number) from 1 to 6 for each release region. If the region code of the disc to be played is different from the region code of the player, it cannot be played.

The region code for Japan is "2".

Since the TV broadcasting system in Japan is NTSC, it does not correspond to overseas PAL etc.

When producing a DVD-VIDEO for the domestic market, the region code must be "2" or "ALL" and the broadcasting system must be "NTSC" compatible.
