Description:

A charming hand puppet by textile designer Trude Neu. This Clown character is handmade and has a fabric body, wooden hands and feet and a hand painted wooden head and hat. Although she was a textile designer Trude Neu also designed toys, often using her own fabrics.

Trude Neu was born in Germany in 1912 but left for Northern Ireland in 1939. She studied textile design and painting at the Belfast Academy of Art during the 1940's. She worked as a textile designer and her curtain fabric designs were exhibited at the "Britain Can Make It" exhibition in London in 1946.
