Chronicle of Dutch history from 1369 to 1608 written by the historian Emanuel van Meteren (1535-1612).
Van Meteren is particularly valued for the detailed description of the Eighty Years' War, also known as the Spanish-Dutch War (1568-1648), up to 1608, which he witnessed himself. In addition to his extensive research, van Meteren based his chronicle on his own experiences and information from useful contacts, which he entertained to statesmen.
In addition, the chronicle contains remarkable information on the trade and shipping of the period, particularly the voyages to the North and East Indies.
