This guitar was made in 1927 and is
approximately 96 year old and has had the time to age and have tremendous
seasoning providing a very mellow bass and clean crisp high notes. This is
a vintage guitar that has been played and with time and has mellowed allowing a
deeper bass response to go along with the typical clarity of the high treble
notes associated with a Brazilian rosewood body and an Adirondack spruce top,
which is why the Martin 28 series (D-28, 000-28, 00-28, and 0-28 guitars) is
well known among performers for these qualities. The clean crisp notes are everything that you
would expect in a 28 series Martin guitar.
However, this guitar has aged and the wood is a fine yellow aged color that you expect in a fine vintage instrument. The wood is also of very high quality as you can see from the tight grain on the spruce top! The shape of the guitar also is smaller than a D-28 or 000-28, which makes it a parlor guitar, and easier and more comfortable to handle while playing. Due to its smaller size, it also is much lighter than most guitars, making it truly a travel guitar! If you are looking for a lighter parlor guitar, this guitar is for you.
With every passing year this fine acoustic guitar will sound better and better. This one has 96 years (and counting) under its belt and it most certainly sounded great the day it was built, but sounds even better today!
With a solid top and solid back and
sides, this acoustic still has plenty of clarity and
brightness, with a beautifully balanced warmth due to its natural aging.
