HUBLEY Art Deco BOOKENDS Angelus Call To Prayer Praying Potato Farmers Gold Leaf.

A recent treasure hunt uncovered this stunning.

20th  Century American Arts and Crafts Antique figurative Cast Iron Golden Gilt Bookends ,

featuring bas-relief figuration, scrolled edges and hammered backs. They're heavy and substantial. The figuration consists of two figures, a man and woman, farmers, standing over a basket of produce. A steepled church rises in the distance and the two figures appear to be still and frozen in prayer for thanks. The pair of bronze bookends have hammered backs, peppered with pock-marks from repeated tooling. The uprights sit on sturdy bases. Gorgeous original Gold Gilt surfaces. Absolutely terrific.
