Primitive Carved Wood Caddy Jar Spoon Tray Honduras.

This was a neighbor's, brought home as a gift from her daughter's travels in Honduras.

I can't say for sure if it was ever used. It's thoroughly clean with no grime or funk.  I did clean and condition it several months ago, and while the application of a wonderful, local-made polish [beeswax, lemon and fda mineral oils] did bring it to life, I see now that the sides of the jars, where they have rubbed against one another, look a little dry.

I wonder if the second jar also had a lid and spoon at one time;I suspect it may have. But, there's still several ways to put this to use.

I don't know what type of wood. I'm sure it's something exotic.

They're relatively smooth - not super smooth, but not rough-textured - and they have a sealant like polyurethane, a varnish.

I imagine they were carved by a villager using cast-off wood pieces from local lumber, and sold as souvenirs.

They're earthy, interesting, and I'm sure you can come up with a practical use for them. Really quite versatile. Could always split them up, too.
