ANTIQUE INDIAN COPPER LOTA 

An unusually good 19th century copper Indian Hindu Lota (these pots are also known as Chambu lotas, Puja lotas or Lota Kalash) and used to store Holy Ganga water, washing in holy Ganga water or for Hindu offerings.

The Lota has an attractive design of 25 bulbous ribs, three of which have a flat upper section decorated with an engraved design. The lota has further chased decoration to the plinth and rim. 

Date: 19th century

Condition: Very good antique condition. Left uncleaned the lota has exceptional antique colour, tarnish and patina. A fine unmolested example in very collectable condition.
