Vivitar was one of the top independent lens and accessory brands, and this 2X tele converter is suitable for Contax/Yashica manual focus 35mm film SLR cameras and lenses (but NOT AF models). It's in fully working order, very good condition, supplied with Vivitar case and front cap, instructions (copy) plus generic rear cap.
This converter fits between the camera and lens, and doubles the focal length. It can be used with just about any lens (except some very wide/old types, where the rear elements protrude too far), but work best with standard, telephoto and zoom lenses. A 70-210mm zoom lens becomes a 140-420mm, which would usually be very expensive. This description is copyright © Heritage Cameras.
It is very nicely made (in Japan) with a solid, metal barrel and lens mounts, ribbed grip, clear markings and a high standard of fit and finish. It adds only around 26mm (1") to the length of the lens attached, is up to 61mm (2.4") in diameter and weighs just 135g (4.8oz). This Vivitar Automatic Tele Converter 2X-24 has a four element optical design, and although not marked as such the glass is clearly multicoated (green reflections are visible) for reduced flare and light loss with increased contrast and colour fidelity.

Compatibility
This converter is compatible with all manual focus 35mm film SLR cameras using the Contax/Yashica bayonet lens mount, as follows:
It fits Contax SLR cameras including the RTS, RTS II, 139 Quartz, 137MD, 137MA, S2 and S2b, with automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with metered manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes. It also fits other models such as the RTS III, 159MM, 167MT, ST, RX, RX II, AX and Aria, but without program or shutter-priority modes.
Contax/Yashica lenses do NOT fit the Contax N-series AF models such as the N-1, NX and N Digital, G autofocus cameras or any other types.
It fits Yashica SLR cameras using the Contax/Yashica bayonet mount, with automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with metered manual, aperture priority auto and program exposure modes where available. Suitable models include the FX-1, FX-2, FX-3, Super and Super 2000, FX-103, FX-D, FR, FR-1 (FR I) and FR-2 (FR II) plus the 107, 108 and 109 MP (Multi Program).
C/Y lenses are NOT suitable for Yashica AF (auto focus) SLR cameras, older Yashica screw thread cameras, or the very early Pentamatic bayonet models.
