Vintage 70s Wall Decor Handpainted Plaque Wine And Fruit

[Totally revised/relisted description,Sept2022]

There was something curious about the style of the bottle. I thought, maybe it isn't a wine bottle; maybe it's brandy, or oil. So I began doing a little research - I ended up down a rabbit hole and learned some amazing info and history on this little painting.

It has a distinct 70s and naive style, and may not be to everyone's tastes, but the most interesting thing about it is its history.

As it was given as a gift and signed "from Jackie & Ron," I looked up the artist.  She was a New Orleans artist (forgive me for not remembering all of the details, but they are available online with a Google search.)

Jacqueline "Jackie" Juge.

Had some association with NOMA, exhibited in New Orleans and France, studied at Tulane, and was president of some art guilds/associations in the area, also worked in some capacity with "educational television"(I'm imaging local public television). I believe she was self described as a graphic artist.

Some of her works are viewable at the websites, Fine Art America and Pixels.

She was married to Roland "Ron" Juge, also an artist, who worked for NASA in the 60s at the Michoud assembly where they made the rockets for the moon landing!  Roland or "Ron" was commissioned by Nasa to make portraits of Apollo astronauts for missions 7-17(earlier 1-6 were unmanned). His portraits were used prolifically in Nasa facilities to promote the missions.

So, some fascinating and endearing information came into light, when I delved deeper into research for this little painting, which was a gift in 1972 from the artist and her husband, Ron.

Don't be shy to make an offer.

A 9×5 original work by New Orleans artist Jackie Juge, circa 1972.
