We have published three versions of this map to show how the area has changed over the years. They cover a major area of both Newcastle and Gateshead, including the area along the Tyne from Dunston Staiths to Newcastle Quayside. They cover an area from Westgate Road and Bigg Market in the north to Peterborough Street in the south, Hawthorn Street in the west to Quarryfield Road in the east. Features on the 1894 map include Newcastle Swing Bridge, Redheugh Bridge, NER Railway Line and Central Station, Elswick Gas Works, North Durham Cricket Ground, All Saints Church, Stephenson's Monmument, Westgate Hill General Cemetery, N.E Railway Works, St Nicholas' Square and the Cathedral. On the reverse of each map we include directory extracts.

The map links up with Sheet 11 Central Newcastle to the north, 17 Elswick to the west, 19 Gateshead East to the east, 23 Gateshead South to the south.
