For your consideration, you are viewing a lovely turned Australian Red Gum Wood Bowl. This has been individually made by a Craftsman, carefully handcrafted on a lathe to turn out this rather attractive piece of bush art, turned from a single piece of wood, with its own unique wood grain and featuring the natural bark as the edge, that gives it a wonderful rustic country appeal, finished to a natural smooth tactile surface that highlights the beautiful red, honey brown colours and grain. This has its maker's name and has been marked on the base with "Jim Schubert 1994 RED GUM".
#REDGUM: Eucalyptus Camaldulensis, commonly known as the river red gum tree is endemic to Australia. An iconic tree, this has a rich earthy red colour that captures the colours of the outback, it is seen along many watercourses across inland Australia, providing shade in the extreme temperatures of central Australia. Red gum is so named for its brilliant red wood, which can range from light pink to almost black, depending on the age and weathering. Curly grain is a unique grain formation with a wavy or rippled effect. When a tree’s roots have stabilised themselves the upper tree area can twist a few degrees causing the trunk to twist slightly. The larger or wider, thicker or taller the timber slab, the rarer and older it is. Rarity equates to supreme durability, strength and quality. Their features are often extraordinarily unique and distinct, making them highly sought after.
Researchers have noted that wood's natural volatile oils have antibacterial properties, in comparison to cutting boards... found that wooden boards repelled bacteria better than their plastic equivalents. Wood is eco-friendly and a perfect way to recycle and help stop waste. What an amazing eco-friendly art form! we appreciate its many natural textures and a rich array of earthy colours, down to the highly polished tactile surfaces. Wood is both recyclable and renewable, forests will grow back after a harvest unlike other natural resources such as coal, metal ores, natural gas and petroleum do not grow back.

CONDITION: This red gum wooden bowl is Vintage 94, Handcrafted, Pre-Owned and it is in Good Condition. It has a lovely deep red aged patina and a couple of natural fissures or cracks, but these are stable and have been present still this was crafted # Please note: The Photographs form part of the description; Super-sized photos can show up the finer details and conditions.
