The South Lancashire Regiment  is another born from the Childers Reforms of 1881 following the amalgamation of the 40th and 82 Regiments of Foot being first named the Prince of Wales Volunteers, renamed  THE SOUTH LANCASHIRE (Prince of Wales Volunteers) in 1938, and merged with the East Lancashire Regiment in 1958 to become the Lancashire Regiment.
