Description

Introducing a beautifully hand-carved Satsuma-tsuge shogi piece set by Etsuzan. The elegant calligraphy style, Shosetsu-sho, adds prestige to this exquisite collection.

Proudly crafted in Tendo, Japan's largest producer of shogi pieces, each piece is meticulously handmade with attention to detail.

Satsuma-tsuishu (Japanese Boxwood):

High-grade shogi pieces are made from premium boxwood (hon-Tuge), with Satsuma-tsuishu from Kyushu considered the finest quality. Ideal for those who appreciate the weight and feel of a truly authentic item, these pieces offer a superior tactile experience.

Shosetsu-sho:

Shosetsu was a Chinese calligrapher from the Yuan Dynasty. His name was Zhao Meng, and he was also known as Zi Ang and Matsuyuki Daoren. You may be familiar with Ming and Song Dynasty calligraphy styles but wondering why there is no Yuan Dynasty style. The Matsuyuki style is indeed a rare and unique calligraphy style from the Yuan period, making it an exquisite addition to your shogi pieces.

Horigoma (Carved Piece):

These carved wooden pieces are coated with lacquer, making them popular and suitable for mid-range collections.
