Here's an early pontiled double neck Nailsea glass Gemel flask made in the 1840s or 1850s era.....it is actually 2 ovoid shaped free blown bottles fused together with slanted necks.....clear glass with white looped "Nailsea" or Marbrie decoration inside the glass........crude clear hand applied rigaree beaded decoration separately applied to sides.... snapped off glass bottom forming a rough pontil scar. The bottle will not stand upright on its own..... Clear with white loops in the glass....8 3/4"tall....Excellent near mint condition with no chips ,cracks or damage. Some light high point wear where it layed on its side..... A nice clean flask with no haze. Very thick heavy glass!.. The term "Gemel" comes from a word meaning "twin". This gemel flask is an authentic original blown by a master glass blower in the mid 1800s....a wonderful crude example with original cork stopper still in each neck. From the Richardson Collection of Stephens City, Virginia originally, but lately from the Digger Dave & Shovelin Shelley Beeler Collection . .....
