INDIAN BIDRIWARE VASE

A charming early 20th Century antique Indian silver-inlaid bidriware vase decorated with twelve sections of foliate design and further decoration to the neck and plinth. Bidriware originated in the town of Bidar in Southern India. It is a complex eight stage manufacturing process which involves patinating white brass with copper oxide to give a black colour, the design is chiselled and pure silver is inlaid into the surface.

Date: early 20th Century.
