DESCRIPTION
Attractive, oldcoloured and very decorative map of Genua and the Ligurian Coast.
Magnificent title cartouche with coat-of-arms and two standing birds of prey. Small scale of miles cartouche in the lower left corner, large compass rose, some sailingships, Neptun and seamonsters.
This map came from the German atlas „Abbildung der gantzen Welt ..." by Gerard Mercator and Jodocus Hondius. Verso with text in German.
MEASUREMENTS
Leaf: 54,5 x 44 cm; Plate: 49 x 37,5 cm.
CONDITION
In good condition. Strong print and strong handmade paper with watermark. Nice contemporary oldcolouring. In the lower centrefold restored piece (better visible against the light). Outer margin some slightly brownstained and minimal cracks. In the map with slightly waterstain. Looks good and very decorative.
