The Eagle, a revival of the original Eagle, which ran from 1950-1959, was a weekly comic book anthology series by IPC Publishing that launched on 27 March 1982. Originally a weekly title, it switched to monthly during a sales decline before finally being cancelled in January 1994. Eagle had several notable strips including Scream!, Tger, Battle, Mask, and Wildcat, but none was more famous that its lead strip, "Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future." This was also the original Eagle's star attraction; Dan Dare was about the eponymous pilot in the then-far future of the 1990s and his glorious outer space expeditions. I somehow managed to miss that and the Eugenics Wars too. When the Eagle was revived, it focused on Dan Dare's eponymous great-great-grandson, 200 years after the original Dan's time. Thus we know that the new Eagle didn't just want to copy the original without daring to be different.
