USS Wyoming was a Wyoming Class battleship built in Philadelphia in 1912, that served in the World War I and was converted into a gunnery training ship in 1931. She trained thousands of sailors in Chesapeake Bay during WW II. Cover franked with a 25 cent Wyoming Statehood stamp # 2444 (FDOI). 

The vessel served in the Atlantic during the First World War as a part of the North Sea Fleet and as a convoy escort ship to Norway. The proud vessel was decommissioned in 1947 and sold for recycling into scrap metal that same year.
